Mike Nalls, PhD | Founder / Principal Consultant
Mike founded Data Tecnica in early 2017 after over a decade of experience in big data analytics and methods research plus consulting in a variety of fields. A major aspect of his portfolio is big data in healthcare, particularly in genomics and using machine learning to better understand disease etiology as a path towards drug development. He has published over 270 peer reviewed papers focusing on statistics and large dataset analytics, and led international efforts to find more than 90% of the genetic risk factors for Parkinson’s disease while providing analytics support and infrastructure to dozens of collaborators around the world.
Faraz Faghri, | Subcontractor / Consultant
Faraz received his BS in Applied Mathematics, MS in Industrial Engineering and he is currently a PhD candidate in Computer Science at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His expertise spans large-scale systems and networks, cloud computing, high-speed data analytics for genomics and health-care data analytics. As a researcher, he has received numerous academic awards including a Mayo Clinic Technology-Based Healthcare and RDA/US fellowship. As an engineer, he has worked with many tech companies including Yahoo!, Neustar, Akamai, and Microsoft Research.
Barry Landin | Subcontractor / Consultant
Barry earned his BS in Computer Science from James Madison University in 1999 and has since delivered solutions and technical guidance to the DoD, NIH and SEC. He specializes in Messaging and Bioinformatics systems in the government space, with core expertise in systems engineering, software design, cloud migration, linked data, and data semantics. Landin’s latest roles include Solution Delivery Manager and Lead Architect for a Data Collaboration Platform offering cloud hosting, shared vocabularies and data management solutions to a range of government programs focusing on brain diseases.
